Mbalula believes airport crimes are coming to an end

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula's comments come after six suspects were arrested at the weekend following a tip-off from a security vehicle following a car from the airport.

JOHANNESBURG - Police Minister Fikile Mbalula says that he believes the days of airport crimes such as follow-home robberies are drawing to a close.

His comments come after six suspects were arrested at the weekend following a tip-off from a security vehicle following a car from the airport.

Mbalula says that these arrests show that the police are determined to end crime in and around the airport.

The suspects are due to appear in court on Monday.

Spokesperson Vuyo Mhaga said: “We are happy but we need a watertight OR Tambo for the economy and tourism of the country.”

Meanwhile, the Iraqi ambassador to South Africa says they are now waiting to get more details from the police to determine why an Iraqi delegation is the latest group to be targeted by the so-called OR Tambo airport robbers.

He believes......would be better if he is sure.

Why did they not do the following a car thing before? The hijacking around the airport has lasted for quite some time. Better now than later :O^

Maybe more road cameras would help?

Criminals get away with murder here, Lis, if they are well-connected. Pity the poor policeman doing an honest job!
