SKUKUZA – A constable attached to SAPS Skukuza today shot and killed his partner and a contractor in two separate incidents in the Kruger National Parks (KNP) said Mr William Mabasa, acting head of communications, SANParks in a press release earlier this afternoon.

According to Captain Fakude from Acornhoek SAPS at about 14:25 a police constable stationed at Skukuza SAPS allegedly shot and killed a 38 year old man at Skukuza Workshop who is known to be from Malawi.

The victim was on duty at the workshop when the suspect arrived in his Grey Mercedes Benz C Class, parked and shot him five times on the upper body, left his lifeless body and drove away.

He went to the staff village. When he stopped his vehicle next to the door of his house, his wife ran out of the house crying. She threw her handbag to her neighbour who was outside and the suspect gave chase.

About 39 metres from the house he shot her three times on her upper body. She died on the scene.

He went into the house, left the 9mm weapon on the bed and exited the house again. The neighbour went inside and hid the weapon.

The suspect went inside the house after a while and locked himself in.

Captain Leon Davel from Vereeniging K9 Unit, who is busy with Rhino 6, went to the scene and requested the suspect to open the door. He refused.

Davel broke the door down and arrested him at 14:50. The neighbour handed the firearm to the captain.

The suspect was charged with Double Murder.

Three empty cartridges were found next to the second victim.

The suspect alleged that his wife (the deceased) had an extra-marital affair with the first victim.

The first scene is about 800 metres from the second scene.

The second victim was legally married to the suspect.

Members of SAPS Skukuza are currently investigating the incidents.

My only question on this issue is why is there a foreign national working in the workshop with SANParks doing the whole community thing, I am sure there are more foreign nationals also employed in positions that can be filled by local communities. Or maybe they cannot find a person from local communities fit enough after all the buffalo meat they supply. O**

SKUKUZA – The constable attached to SAPS Skukuza, who allegedly shot and killed his wife and a contractor to SANParks in two separate incidents in the Kruger National Park (KNP) yesterday, will be informed of the two murder charges against him tomorrow and appear in court on Monday in Bushbuckridge.

Mr Moses Dlamini, spokesperson for the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), confirmed to Lowvelder today that the facts in the Lowvelder report of yesterday were correct.

The docket was handed over yesterday to IPID which will be investigating the case further.

According to Captain Fakide from Acornhoek SAPS, at about 14:25 yesterday a police constable stationed at Skukuza SAPS allegedly shot and killed a 38-year-old man, Mr William Khanyile, at the Skukuza workshop.

He was on duty as a contractor at the workshop when the suspect shot him five times in the upper body. The suspect then drove away.

He went to his house in the compound and shot his wife, Zinhle, about 39 metres from the house, three times in her upper body. She died on the scene.

Thereafter the suspect locked himself in the house. Captain Leon Davel went to the scene and requested the suspect to open the door. He refused. Davel broke the door down and arrested him at 14:50.

It is alleged that the suspect claimed that his wife was in love with Khanyile.

Investigators from IPID visited the crime scenes last night and will be investigating further.

A somber mood prevailed over Skukuza today with staff of the park in shock over the incident.

Mr Glenn Phillips, managing executive of the KNP, requested stakeholders and role players who attended the inauguration of the SANParks Forum for People with Disabilities in Skukuza today to observe a moment of silence for the victims.

“This tragedy happened during the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women or Children, which makes it very poignant and sad. We need to listen, care and respect each other more to prevent violence in our societies,” said Phillips.

Agreed, but SANParks has a BEE clause and prescriptions for using contractors. And there is a lot more foreign nationals working for SANParks. =O: =O:

So she cheated, he shot her, sad, but hardly worth a whisper in SA these days. --00--

A sad story.

A friend of mine is currently watching his life fall apart after "being a naughty boy" and his mrs caught him
Fortuntely I can't speak from experience, but it seems to me that with this sort of thing, it causes people to lose perspective for a quick thrill and then the family has to pay the price.

Yes, it is sad, and far too commonplace in SA at all social levels...
